World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day

Monday 10th October was World Mental Health Day - a day recognised by the World Health Organisation, and dedicated to talking about our mental health and emphasising that it is just as important as physical health. Due to this, we wanted to write a blog to start a conversation about mental health, using resources from the Mental Health Foundation.

Mental Health Tips

The Mental Health Foundation’s website is full of resources, including mental health tips such as the following:

  • Get closer to nature

  • Learn to understand and manage your feelings

  • Talk kindly to yourself

  • Talk to someone you trust for support

  • Get a good night of sleep

  • Keep moving and eat healthy food

  • Plan things to look forward to

These tips may be easier for some than others, but it’s worth giving them a go if you can. You can find more detail about each of these tips in this publication: https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/sites/default/files/2022-07/mhf-our-best-ever-mental-health-tips-backed-by-research_0.pdf

Mental Health Publications

There are also a number of other published guides on the Mental Health Foundation’s website, such as:

  • How to support mental health at work

  • How to overcome fear and anxiety

  • How to look after your mental health in later life

Fancy a challenge?

If you feel like setting yourself a challenge, why not take part in the 12,000 Steps a Day in November Challenge? This involves either walking or running 12,000 steps a day both to help you feel better physically and mentally, but also to help raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.
