Is working with Staffroom Education right for me?

Obviously, we’d like to say that working with Staffroom Education is perfect for absolutely everyone, but naturally, the kind of work that we offer is going to suit some people better than others. So, we wanted to write this blog to help you consider whether working with us is likely to be for you! Read on to find out more…

If you’d like to choose the days and hours that you work:

Then working for us is ideal! Each week we get in touch with you to ask which days you’d like to work the following week, and we’ll send you into schools to work on those days. Our work is great for people with commitments, such as university students, parents, and just generally busy people who may not be in a position to commit to full-time work (although we do also have full-time roles on offer if you are free 5 days a week!)

If you’d like to gain some great classroom experience:

Then we can help! Working with us looks great on your CV, as classroom-based experience will help you to develop some amazing transferrable skills such as patience, resilience and creativity, which employers will love! We are also more than happy to write you a reference for any future jobs that you apply for - here at Staffroom we’re a team and we want the best for you, even when that doesn’t mean working for us forever!

If you have some recent experience of working with children:

Then we’d love to hear from you! We are actively looking for candidates to work as teaching assistants, cover supervisors and more! To work as a teaching assistant or cover supervisor, we need you to have some recent experience of working with children, although this does not have to be in an academic setting. Perhaps you’ve volunteered in a school (as a lunch monitor, after school club monitor etc.) worked as a sports coach, mentor, tutor or something similar. Why not come and put your skills to use and make a positive impact on children’s lives?! :)

If you don’t have this experience but would still like to work in a school:

Then we can look into finding you work as an admin assistant, catering assistant, school cleaner, and other school-based roles that don’t require recent experience with children. If you have your heart set on working as a teaching assistant or cover supervisor, then we recommend that you get in touch with some local schools and ask if you are able to volunteer with them, perhaps just for an hour or so per week for a few weeks (or however much time you are able to commit), and then after you gain that experience, we can look for paid work for you!

If you’d like to work without being tied into a contract:

We’ve got you covered! Working with Staffroom Education is a great way to find out whether working in a school is for you or not without being tied into a contract, meaning that if you find you don’t like it, you find another job, or something just changes, you can stop working whenever you like - fuss-free.

If you’d like to work with a small company that gets to know you and has your best interests at heart:

Well…that’s us! As a team of only 5 people (and of course 2 office dogs), you’ll get to know us just as well as we get to know you, and you’ll quickly learn that it’s our mission to place you in schools that are right for you - whether that’s a nursery in Swansea or a secondary school in Cardiff!
