So, you finish your degree this year, (or maybe you already have) and you’re not too sure what to do next. You know that you’d like to stay in South Wales, and who can blame you, it’s pretty amazing! You’re not sure you want to be tied down to a graduate scheme for 2 years straight away, but you do want to be earning and gain some work experience. Well, let us introduce you to Staffroom’s Graduate Programme.
During your time with Staffroom, you will have the opportunity to work as a Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, or both in nursery, primary, and secondary schools across Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, and The Vale – you specify the area and how far you’re happy to travel (it doesn’t have to be far!). You can try all three age ranges on rotation, or if there’s one that you’re particularly keen on, you can dive straight in. All you need is some recent experience working with children, for example volunteering, sports coaching, tutoring, mentoring, or something similar. This means that you’re able to gain valuable classroom experience without needing to have a teaching qualification, however, if you are interested in gaining a teaching assistant qualification, we can provide access to free training.
Unlike many graduate schemes, with Staffroom’s Graduate Programme, you have the freedom to specify how often you would like to work each week – whether that’s 5 days, 1 day, somewhere in between or it changes each week. This gives you the advantage of not only gaining great experience and transferrable skills whilst earning, but it also allows you to create your own work-life balance - because it really would be a shame to miss out on that last-minute holiday because you can’t get the time off work! You can also choose how long you stay with us, so if your circumstances change, you’re under no obligation to stay with us longer than you want to, but likewise you have the option of staying with us for as long as you like.
