Teaching Assistants Required for Primary Schools across Newport
Staffroom Education are on the lookout for experienced Teaching Assistants to work within Primary Schools across Newport. We are looking for candidates who are flexible and have passion of working in Education, we can offer a range of Teaching Assistant vacancies within the Newport area, this work is temporary day to day or long-term with an immediate start.
We cover a variety of different schools, so are looking for individuals who flourish in a fast-paced environment and want to gain experience in Primary. Our schools require Teaching Assistants to support the class Teacher, support small groups of children, carry out 1:1 work with individuals, sometimes including working with children who have additional learning needs. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 months, recent experience working in a classroom setting or hold the relevant Teaching Assistant Qualification Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 or degree in Early Years and Education or Childhood Studies. However, we are also working closely with ACT Training, so you can study your Teaching Assistant qualification whilst working for Staffroom.
The role of the Teaching Assistant is:
Support the teacher when needed
Assist with the development of basic Literacy, Numeracy and ICT
Help prepare the classroom before class e.g. make or create resources, preparing games and work in the classroom
Tidy resources at the end of each lesson
Work within group activities e.g. reading groups, spelling groups and numeracy activities
Provide one to one support, this can include working with children with ALN
Provide feedback to the teacher on the pupil’s progress
Help with administrative tasks, don’t be afraid to ask for things to do
Be aware of the planning and preparation of work e.g. ask about timetables, pupil profiles and playtime duty rotas
We are looking for candidates who are hardworking, organised, reliable and flexible. You should also have a good understanding of the school curriculum.
