Youth Worker/Mentor
We are looking for an experienced Youth Worker/Mentor to join one of our Secondary Schools in Cardiff to support pupils with the transition back to school following the recent closures due to the pandemic.
The successful candidate will work on a group or one-to-one basis with secondary school pupils of all ages.
This role is to start immediately and will run on an full-time, ongoing basis.
Typical responsibilities include:
Working with school staff to select students for mentoring;
Discussing the aims of mentoring with pupils;
Liaising with schools, teachers, social workers and educational; psychologists and making referrals where appropriate;
Organising and running drop-in sessions;
Helping pupils to increase their confidence and self-esteem by listening to them and devising appropriate strategies;
Experience is essential for this role, whether paid or voluntary. It is also desirable that candidates have counselling experience.
