Here at Staffroom, we're always looking for new and creative ways to find fantastic teaching staff, so we were super chuffed when we were asked to present to the second year sports students at the University of South Wales. Even when you're studying to complete a degree, it is often difficult to pinpoint the exact career route you are going to take once you've finally graduated. Many individuals often overlook a teaching career or completely disregard it especially if it's it's something that has never been offered, so we wanted to show how a supply agency could offer anyone the chance to sample classroom life before taking the big 'PGCE' step.

Supply teaching provides you with opportunities to observe and learn from a range of teachers that work in the schools you visit. You are able to observe how they teach, plan and work together to achieve the best ways of doing things. Not only this, but as supply teachers you are exposed to different age groups which will not only benefit from a diversity of learning styles, but build confidence too.

It was fantastic to meet so many eager and engaging students that were either interested in becoming a teacher, or working with children alongside their studies. Part of the USW course enables you to gain first-hand experience of working in certain industries whilst they are at university, which demonstrates a great commitment to ensuring their students are employable upon graduation. We are now seeing more and more graduates taking the supply route and we're blown away by the standard of classroom management.

Indeed supply teaching provides a great path for newly qualified teachers to gain a broad range of experience, and we can't wait to work alongside our universities to offer just that.
